COLLEGE FOOTBALL QUEST TO VISIT CHARLOTTE
Part of Two College Football Fans Mission to See a Game at Every College Football Stadium
62 Down – 71 Remain
New York, NY – College Football Quest (CFQ) has announced that it will be visiting The University of North Carolina at Charlotte for the game against the Florida Atlantic Owls on Friday, October 27, 2023. “This will actually be my second time to the UNCC campus but my first for a football game. After my first time on campus, I knew we needed to get back here for a football game soon.” Jarrett states. Al adds, “And with the 49ers coming off a big road win and FAU coming off a disappointing loss to UTSA, this should be an interesting game. ”
CFQ has completed 62 out of 133 trips to current FBS schools. UNCC will be the fourth stop in 2023 after Jacksonville State in September and Florida International and Memphis earlier in October. One additional trip is scheduled for 2023 to Louisiana in November. Over the years, they’ve had an opportunity to see a lot of critical games. In the first year of their quest, at a game in DeKalb, Illinois, between the Central Michigan Chippewa’s and the Northern Illinois Huskies, they watched as Northern Illinois battled back from a twenty-four point deficit to force overtime, only to throw an interception and lose. “Exciting games like that keep us going on the Quest, regardless of school size or ranking,” Jarrett says. Al adds, “They are not all great games or in good weather as we have sat in a typhoon in Oregon.” Both were also in attendance in 2015 at Georgia Tech when the Yellow Jackets blocked a field goal on the last play of the game to upset an undefeated and top 10 Florida State team.
Their sports experiences are not always limited to college football. Jarrett and Al expect to fully tour the campus, stadium, and facilities, documenting as they go on their website, www.collegefootballquest.com. The Quest has given them an opportunity to see a lot of things in America’s college towns they might have otherwise missed. They cite touring West Point, seeing a hockey game at Miami of Ohio, and tailgating with Hawkeye fans in Iowa City as just some of the many highlights of their journey thus far.
Both Al Botta and Jarrett Singer are members of the Football Writers Association of America.
About College Football Quest
Since 2008, Jarrett Singer and Al Botta have been on a quest to see a college football game in every home FBS stadium. The seeds of CFQ were planted when Jarrett Singer was attending the University of Florida where he enrolled in a course called Coaching Football. CFQ has evolved into more than just a “check the stadium off a list” event. CFQ strives to obtain the full experience at each location, trying to spend a full few days at each venue as opposed to a quick in and out to just see the game. The game day experience is always the highlight, but CFQ wants to experience tours of the campus, visiting local eateries and shops, tourist attractions, networking with fans, and other local events. CFQ has received national attention in 2015, being profiled in USA today. Their website www.collegefootballquest.com keeps fans updated on their progress.
