COLLEGE FOOTBALL QUEST TO VISIT THE UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY
Part of Two College Football Fans Mission to See a Game at Every College Football Stadium
66 Down – 68 Remain
New York, NY – College Football Quest (CFQ) has announced that it will be visiting UK for the game against the Auburn Tigers on Saturday, October 26, 2024. “Neither team has had the start to the season that they wanted as between the schools there is only one conference win. But both teams have shown a lot of fight with many of the games coming down to the end.” Jarrett states. Al adds, “Lexington has been a place that we have been trying to get to for quite some time and I am very interested in all the things the city has to offer including the horse racing and bourbon.” Both Al and Jarrett expected a typical SEC battle when this game was scheduled before the season and there has been nothing to convince them that it will not be the case. The 7:45pm time slot should add a little bit extra to the home crowd environment that both are looking forward to experiencing.
CFQ has completed 66 out of 134 trips to current FBS schools. This will be the 3rd trip of 2024, with additional trips scheduled for Ohio and Arizona State. Over the years, they’ve had an opportunity to see a lot of exciting games. In the first year of their quest, at a game in DeKalb, Illinois, between the Central Michigan Chippewa’s and the Northern Illinois Huskies, they watched as Northern Illinois battled back from a twenty-four point deficit to force overtime, only to throw an interception and lose. “Exciting games like that keep us going on the Quest, regardless of school size or ranking,” Jarrett says. Al adds, “They are not all great games or in good weather as we have sat in a typhoon in Oregon.” Both were also in attendance in 2015 at Georgia Tech when the Yellow Jackets blocked a field goal on the last play of the game to upset an undefeated and top 10 Florida State team.
The experiences are not limited to just the games. Jarrett and Al expect to fully tour the campus, stadium, and facilities, documenting as they go on their website, www.collegefootballquest.com. The Quest has given them an opportunity to see a lot of things in America’s college towns they might have otherwise missed. They cite touring West Point, seeing a hockey game at Miami of Ohio, and tailgating with Hawkeye fans in Iowa City as just some of the many highlights of their journey thus far.
Both Al Botta and Jarrett Singer are members of the Football Writers Association of America.
About College Football Quest
Since 2008, Jarrett Singer and Al Botta have been on a quest to see a college football game in every home FBS stadium. The seeds of CFQ were planted when Jarrett Singer was attending the University of Florida where he enrolled in a course called Coaching Football. CFQ has evolved into more than just a “check the stadium off a list” event. CFQ strives to obtain the full experience at each location, trying to spend a full few days at each venue as opposed to a quick in and out to just see the game. The game day experience is always the highlight, but CFQ wants to experience tours of the campus, visiting local eateries and shops, tourist attractions, networking with fans, and other local events. CFQ has received national attention in 2015, being profiled in USA today. Their website www.collegefootballquest.com keeps fans updated on their progress.
