COLLEGE FOOTBALL QUEST TO VISIT DUKE UNIVERSITY

FWAA Members Target Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium for 2026 Season Opener

Part of Two College Football Fans Mission to See a Game at Every College Football Stadium

72 Down – 66 Remain

New York, NY – College Football Quest (CFQ) has announced that it will be visiting Duke University for the Blue Devils’ 2026 season opener against the Tulane Green Wave on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Members of the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), Jarrett Singer and Al Botta are on an ambitious journey to experience a college football game at every FBS venue. “Kicking off the 2026 college football season in Durham at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium is going to be fantastic,” Jarrett states. “Opening weekend always brings unmatched energy, and we are eager to experience Duke’s game-day atmosphere firsthand.” Al adds, “Durham has been a place we have wanted to get to for quite some time, and I’m really interested in everything the Bull City has to offer. Beyond the game, we are excited to explore local historic sites and dive into Durham’s nationally acclaimed culinary scene—from classic North Carolina BBQ to local favorites like Dame’s Chicken & Waffles.” With a scheduled 3:30 PM EDT kickoff, both Al and Jarrett expect an electric home crowd to set the stage for their next chapter on the quest.

Jarrett and Al are available for media interviews, podcast appearances, and local feature stories leading up to kickoff on September 5.

CFQ has completed 72 out of 138 trips to current FBS schools. Over the years, they’ve had an opportunity to see a lot of exciting games. In the first year of their quest, at a game in DeKalb, Illinois, between the Central Michigan Chippewa’s and the Northern Illinois Huskies, they watched as Northern Illinois battled back from a twenty-four point deficit to force overtime, only to throw an interception and lose. “Exciting games like that keep us going on the Quest, regardless of school size or ranking,” Jarrett says. Al adds, “They are not all great games or in good weather as we have sat in a typhoon in Oregon.” Both were also in attendance in 2015 at Georgia Tech when the Yellow Jackets blocked a field goal on the last play of the game to upset an undefeated and top 10 Florida State team.

The experiences are not limited to just the games.  Jarrett and Al expect to fully tour the campus, stadium, and facilities, documenting as they go on their website, www.collegefootballquest.com. The Quest has given them an opportunity to see a lot of things in America’s college towns they might have otherwise missed. They cite touring West Point, seeing a hockey game at Miami of Ohio, and tailgating with Hawkeye fans in Iowa City as just some of the many highlights of their journey thus far.

About College Football Quest

Since 2008, Jarrett Singer and Al Botta have been on a quest to see a college football game in every home FBS stadium.   The seeds of CFQ were planted when Jarrett Singer was attending the University of Florida where he enrolled in a course called Coaching Football.  CFQ has evolved into more than just a “check the stadium off a list” event. CFQ strives to obtain the full experience at each location, trying to spend a full few days at each venue as opposed to a quick in and out to just see the game. The game day experience is always the highlight, but CFQ wants to experience tours of the campus, visiting local eateries and shops, tourist attractions, networking with fans, and other local events.  CFQ has received national attention in 2015, being profiled in USA today.  Their website www.collegefootballquest.com keeps fans updated on their progress.
