A look back at Week 4 of the college football season.
I will admit that I did not see very much college football this weekend. My job took me to Denmark over the weekend and while you can generally find NFL football in Copenhagen, college football is impossible. I did manage to watch the Gators not be able to play offense or defense but that is about it.
1. The dedication award goes to me. I did the impossible and was able to watch the Gators. This was an epic quest that had me sitting behind the reception desk at my hotel, using an impossibly slow WiFi connection, slingbox, VPN, and iPad to watch the Gators ineptitude. That game should have been 72-0. Alabama alone kept Florida in this game. If Florida … Read More »

Random thoughts on the upcoming weekend of college football.
1. The weekend gets off to a fast start on Thursday with the Auburn Tigers traveling to Manhattan, Kansas to take on the Kansas State Wildcats. This is one of two games between top 25 teams and it is in prime time on Thursday night. Both teams come in 2-0. Auburn’s easy week 1 win over Arkansas looks even better after Arkansas shredded Texas Tech. I still am not sure what to make of this Wildcat team. I guess we find out Thursday. Bill Synder Stadium should be rocking for this one.
2. On Friday, UConn takes on South Florida in Tampa. Unfortunately for the Bulls, there are probably 10 high school games within 5 miles of Raymond James that will be better … Read More »

Wake Forest at Miami – Miami ekes out another win to remain unbeaten. Next week…Florida State. One team will emerge with their first loss. I know where my money would be.
Connecticut @ Central Florida – Could UConn be the worst team in the country? It is certainly possible as they got spanked by UCF. They do have some opportunities on the schedule to get a win but a winless Huskie team is certainly possible.
Nebraska at Minnesota – The Golden Gophers get the upset and hand the Cornhuskers its second loss of the year, but this one hurts a lot more as it is a conference loss for Nebraska. This ended a 16 game streak the Huskers had on the Gophers who are now bowl eligible.
Western Michigan at Massachusetts – Someone had to win … Read More »

Oregon at Washington – As expected, the Huskies did not get blown out, but the Ducks win comfortably. Washington is a program headed in the right direction, but they just cannot compete with the elite of the Pac12….yet. Oregon just needs to avoid a massive mistake versus Washington State before they head into back to back games against UCLA and Stanford.
Boston College at Clemson – BC was leading this game going into the 4Q. Clemson now has a big showdown with the Seminoles. That will be must see TV.
Stanford at Utah – The Utes get their biggest home win beating a Top 5 team at home for the first time with a big goal line stand at the end of the game. The Utes played a great game and were rewarded … Read More »

Rutgers at Louisville – This is the first game of the back to back gauntlet that will define the Cardinals season. This week Rutgers, next week UCF. These are the toughest games on the Cards schedule. And they are 19 point favorites. Nice schedule if you can get it.
Oregon at Washington – The Huskies are coming off a close loss to Stanford. Oregon is Oregon. I am a believer in the Huskies and this game is at home so that helps. But they are not in the Ducks class yet. But they are heading up, so I do not expect the Ducks to be up by 50 at the half as is the norm. But the Huskies do not have the horses to win this game.

Colorado State at Alabama – The Tide wins this one and the score is impressive at 31-6. But in watching the game, the Rams were able to do some things offensively and I did not come away too impressed with the Tide in this one. So, I have done something I have been debating for a week or so. I have moved Oregon ahead of ‘Bama in my rankings. I am not as convinced as I once was that the ‘Bama defense can stop the Ducks attack.
Arizona State at Stanford – The score would leave you to believe this was a close game. It wasn’t. I leave much more impressed with Stanford than I have been previously. They make the big move up to #4 in my rankings.

Clemson at NC State – The Thursday night game this week is two 2-0 teams in the ACC opener for both. Clemson has the big win over Georgia so far this year. Thus, the Tigers will typically lose a game they shouldn’t each year. Is this the one?
Utah St. at USC – Could Lane Kiffin get fired after losing this one?
Tennessee at Florida – The CFQ heads to the Swamp. Burrito Brothers here I come!
Michigan State at Notre Dame – The Spartans may have one of the best defenses you have not heard about. The Irish cannot run the ball. This equals a ND -7 line from the folks in Vegas? ND is a popular team but that line stinks. ND may pull this out but it is probably … Read More »
