Pete Carroll Is Not the Fool You Think He Is

When you sit at a blackjack table and hit on 18 against a dealer 6, then draw a 3, did you make the right decision? Decisions and results are correlated but are not the same. Just because you pulled the 3 and won does not mean you made the correct decision.

I was going to write an entry about how the criticism of Pete Carroll is grossly unfair and how Bill Belichick is avoiding criticism that he deserves solely because the Patriots won.

But the folks at FiveThirtyEight said it much more eloquently and decisively than I ever could.

So please read A Head Coach Botched The End Of The Super Bowl, And It Wasn’t Pete Carroll!
